Left or right hand side available!
We have built and/or installed more of these kits than we can keep track of over the last many years. This rear mount oil cooler kit is in everything from street cars to dedicated race cars.
The problems with the stock oil cooling system are no secret. Stock adds more than 16 feet of oil cooler line to the pressurized system which drops oil pressure for the motor. It is known to have failing fittings resulting in engine failure. The stock system "over cools" the oil preventing it from ever reaching the target range of 220 to 290 degrees F. The coolers rest in the front of the car where they are are very susceptible to damage from minor shunts and the stock system is HEAVY! There's simply nothing good about OEM Lotus Oil cooling on the Toyota 2ZZ-GE motored cars.
Our solution is simple, straight-forward, light weight, effective, and tested. We delete the stock system. We moved to a proper SETRAB heat exchanger core and mounted it the rear. Setrab is best in class by any measure. We provided an option for which side to mount it on. We then mounted a fan atop the core to normalize the heat on track days, and we did all this without any drilling. This cooler will allow the oil temps to reach an ideal oil temperature at all power levels that we've seen from 190 to 500 horsepower with wet or dry sump configurations.
The kit is available in left or right hand mounting. For cars that may run a REV400 with the right side rear core, you'll want the left hand mount oil cooler. For all other cars, we recommend that you mount the oil cooler on the RIGHT side of the car.
Kit is complete with fan mounted to the core, relay, plug'n play wiring harness, and BMRS oil Cooler lines. We build and crimp the BMRS lines in-house. No hand build socketed hoses here! BMRS hoses are lightweight, PTFE cores, with SS braided exterior, and will last the life of the vehicle while staying flexible.
While not required, we recommend removal of the stock oil cooler components to reduce the weight of the vehicle. This requires removal of the front clam. However, this can be done at a later date since our cooler system eliminates the stock coolers and hose from the oil loop.
